Her name was Galina. Her face was hidden behind a mask shaped like a bird’s beak, a relic of something ancient, something forgotten. In her fragile hands she held an egg, smooth and unbroken, barely perceptibly pulsating with an invisible light.

Which came first - the egg or the bird? Was she the beginning, or was she the answer to a cycle that had no beginning?

She dosn't tried to fly, she tried to break the egg, but something in her heart told her that in the fragile shell lay a secret that she was not yet ready to understand.

Perhaps freedom was not in breaking or in flying, but in waiting. Holding the secret close and allowing it to exist, not needing an answer.

The beginning had already begun.
